Where is Satan today?

Since we are said to be under the “New Covenant” that would mean that the devil is a defeated foe because of what Jesus Christ our Saviour has done for us at the cross almost, over, 2,000 years ago and counting. But, people today, as you know, are still thinking that Satan is around do to the tragedies that are going on in our world these days. When I say tragedies, I mean things like illnesses or even worse yet because of the 9/11 attack that happen back in the year 2001, in New York City, by the fall of the twin towers.

When looking at these verses below which reads:

Hebrews 2:14

14Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

1st John 3:8

8He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

1st Cor. 15:56-57

56The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

…you can see that they are mentioning that Satan has been destroyed along with the Old Covenantal system, which Christ has fulfilled upon our behalf at the cross. And, even better yet, God showed us that the Old Covenant has ended through His return in judgement when Titus’ Roman army destroyed Jerusalem, along with the temple, on September of A.D. 70.

The New CovenantWhy I Believe we are in the New Covenant

So, why do I believe that we are living in the New Covenantal system right now and even forever, well, in Hebrews 5:6 it says “Thou art a Priest forever”, which means that Jesus is our high priest forever. In Hebrews 7:12, it says “for when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change in the law”, so why would we be looking for an end to what many call the “church age” when Christ is said to be our “High Priest forever”? Do you not know that in Matthew 5:17-18, it says:

Matthew 5:17-18

17“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.18“For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Just like Christ has said in His word, when it comes to the Old Covenantal system, not “one jot or one tittle will by no means pass away” until all has been fulfilled. So, if you are still looking for an end to what you think is the “world” than you must still be living under the old covenantal system because according to Jesus’ own words, the old system of things has come to an end, and for that word in the Bible which you think mean “world” it really means “age” just compare the KJV to the NKJV and you will see that they have changed it to “age” in the newer version.

Matthew 24:3 KJV

3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Matthew 24:3 NJKV

3Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what willbe the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Now Revelation in the very beginning is another good area to look at where John says the time is near which can be found in:

Rev. 1:3Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Rev. 1:7Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

So, how in the world can something over 2,000 plus years be near after looking in Daniel where he was told to seal the books for the time was a far off? If you add the years from Daniel all the way to Revelation, it will seem to add up between 500 to 600 years. How, in the world, can a number that is 600 be far off and another number which is 2,000 plus more years added, as time goes by, while waiting for the Lord’s return that many claim are still looking forward for, be near? It would sound totally impossible for something to be near when we have already gone way over 600 years, after the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, that was considered far off for Daniel.

I hope that this gives you something to think about when it comes to the New Covenant which we are now living within today.

Jeremiah 31 31-34 - New CovenantJeremiah 31:31-34 (KJV)

31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

This has been fulfilled in Christ – Hebrews 8:8-12
