PHILIPPINES

PREACHING, BAPTIZING, TEACHING, PLANTING,
STRENGTHENING AND ESTABLISHING MISSIONS INTO NEW TESTAMENT
BAPTIST CHURCHES THROUGH THE AUTHORITY OF A LOCAL NEW
TESTAMENT BAPTIST CHURCH.
-
THE METHODS OF PLANTING, STRENGTHENING, AND
ESTABLISHING OF MISSIONS INTO NEW TESTAMENT BAPTIST CHURCHES
THROUGH:
-
Evangelism in the "highways and hedges" (Luke
14:21-23; Luke 15:45).
-
Open air services in parks and on the street
in crowded villages, towns, and cities (Mark 16:15,16).
-
Evangelism daily in the home from Monday thru
Friday (Acts 5:42; Acts 16:32-35).
-
A 20 days long nightly affairs evangelistic
preaching service carried on from Monday through Friday.
-
Literature Evangelism. Tracts. One of the
effective tools in reaching the lost for Christ is found in
the publication and circulation of tracts. They are valuable
for soul winning, soul building, indoctrination, and for
teaching the truths of God's Word. We missionary evangelists
should keep a supply of well-selected tracts on hand all the
time. They can be mailed out, handed out in making visits,
given to passers-by on the streets, and distributed at
church to church doors as congregations gather and disperse.
-
Preaching the gospel on radio and television.
-
DRAWING THE NET (Luke 5:4,5; 11 Corinthians
5:11,14,20; Revelation 22:17).
-
It has been said that in the matter of
Drawing the Net probably lies the chief difference between a
successful missionary and an unsuccessful one. Therefore the
most earnest study humanly possible on the matter of net
drawing should be made by every preacher of the Word of God.
-
As the salesman studies how to persuade his
prospective customer to sign on the dotted line, as the
lawyer studies how to secure a verdict for his client, as
the fishermen studies how to hand his fish after he has
strike, even so must the missionary study how to secure an
adequate response to the gospel message.
-
Without it the message is incomplete and its
effect unknown (Exodus 32:26; Joshua 24:15; Matthew 4:19;
Matthew 11:28-30; John 1:12,13; Acts 2:38-42; Acts 16:30,31;
Romans 10:9-13; Luke 13:3-5; Acts 17:30,31).
-
The invitation to repent and believe in the
Lord Jesus Christ, and to follow Him in baptism, and to
become a member of the Lord's church, and to dedicate their
lives in faithful service to God is the logical climax of
the evangelistic sermon.
-
The gospel deserve a response. Christ's call
to men expects an answer. What a pity it is to let anyone
leave the meeting uncommitted who would have made a decision
if the proper invitation had been given!
-
When the gospel is preached faithfully and an
urgent invitation given, the blood of the lost is no longer
upon the missionary and the church (Ezekiel 3:18,19; Matthew
28:19,20; Mark 16:15,16; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; Acts
11:19-26; Acts 13:1-4; Acts 14:23-28).
-
CONSERVING THE RESULTS (Matthew 28:19,20; John
15:16-19; Acts 2:24-47).
-
Christ program for souls, as outlined in the
New Testament, is salvation, confession, baptism, church
membership, instruction, and service. We cannot break or
disregard this order and have permanent, constructive
evangelism (Acts 2:38-42).
-
True evangelism is more than winning souls to
accept Christ as Savior. This one of its task, its first
great one. But there follows an important and far-reaching
task of conserving this victory and utilizing the new saved
soul in effective service in Christ's kingdom (Ephesians
2:10; 1 Corinthians 15:58).
-
Men are not saved so that they may keep out
of Hell. They are saved to serve. The evangelism that stops
at conversion and public profession is lopsided, wasteful,
incomplete.
-
It should go on to teach, train, and to
develop, and utilize the talents and powers of the new
convert. This educational phase of evangelism is
transcendently important and should receive the careful
attention of all the forces engaged in the promotion of
Christ's kingdom.
-
Modern evangelism finds here its greatest
leakage and waste. Much of modern evangelism conducted by
modern professional evangelists that does not have the
commission from the Lord Jesus Christ through His church
leaves its spiritual children orphans, homeless and
motherless.
-
Churches not founded by our Lord Jesus Christ
often let the new babes in Christ, go without a mother's
protecting arms, warm heart love, and food, until they
become backsliders and spiritual driftwood. Such neglect of
spiritual children is unpardonable and sinful.
-
Here lies, also, the unspeakable weakness of
great "ecumenical union meetings." The evangelist of such
meetings usually do not stress these important duties to the
new convert; to be baptized and follow Christ membership, to
join up in Christ service and go to work for Him.
-
A new convert is entitled to knowledge of all
that Christ wants him to do, and to training for His service
only in the one true church founded by Christ not just to
any church of his own choice that was founded by man.
