Eph 3 :21 Unto him be glory in the Church

John P. Crandell

What, or who, is the true church? It is none other then the body of Christ...the believers.

Is the Catholic Church the one and only true church?

The Catholic faith, one of the faiths amongst the many others, which at times takes pride is calling themselves the one and only truth church since the day of Peter, when Christ has said to him that “upon this rock I will build my church.”

Whenever it comes about that we hear of a person claiming that their church is the one and only true church then it becomes an issue that we must ask them “why.” Why is it that their church is the one and only true church?

The books I am using to reveal the downfalls in the Catholic Church’s faith, who claims to be the one and only truth church, was purchased at none other then a Catholic store at one of the many malls on the Cebu Island. The authors and the titles of the books, that I have bought, can be found by looking down at the footnotes whenever I am quoting one of them.

Fatal flaws in Catholicism:

  1. Q – “How do we become Christians?”[1] A – “We become Christians through baptism.”[2]
  2. Q – “What is the Christian doctrine?”[3] A – “Christian doctrine is that Jesus Christ teaches to show us the path to heaven. Jesus Christ continues to teach us through the Catholic Church.”[4]
  3. Q - “When do we become adopted Children of God?”[5] A – “We become adopted children of God when we receive baptism.”[6]
  4. Q - “Did the blessed Virgin inherit original sin?”[7] A – “The Blessed Virgin did not inherit original sin.”[8]
  5. Q – “What is the Holy Church?”[9] A – “The Holy Church is the congregation of the Christian faithful, founded by Jesus Christ, with the pope, as her visible head.”[10]

Just these simple few question and answers, the catholic church offers, is enough to make someone in their right mind to get out of their seat and leave that church as quick as possible or be willing to make a stand, with the word of God, and challenge the speaker, who is their priest that they call father, and see if they can defend themselves with only the Bible alone…Sola Scriptura.

Responses to the “fatal flaws:”

  1. Q – “How do we become Christians?”[11] A – Acts 16:30-31 “…Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
  2. Q – “What is the Christian doctrine?”[12] A – The Christian doctrine is none other then the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ of the second Person in the triune Godhead.
  3. Q - “When do we become adopted Children of God?”[13] When become “adopted children of God when we come to faith through Jesus Christ when we are inputted with His righteousness according to Romans 5.
  4. Q - “Did the blessed Virgin inherit original sin?”[14] A – Yes, “the blessed virgin” Mary did inherit original sin just like every other human being that has been born by both a mother and a father. The one and only reason why Christ was sinless is because He was born through a virgin birth where the father was not involved because according to Romans 5 it was through Adam, the man, that sin has entered into the world and when we see this through covenantal understanding we can then see how Christ remained sinless even though Mary herself was also a sinner.
  5. Q – “What is the Holy Church?”[15] A – The “Holy Church” is none other then the body of believers while as for Christ, alone, is the head of the church.
    • Colossians 1:18 (KJV) “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
    • Ephesians 5:23 (KJV) “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”

I close by reading from 2nd Peter 1 verse 20:

2nd Peter 1:20 (KJV) “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”
